Great Hymn to Wesir from the Stela of Amenmose, 18th Dynasty

In Praise of Wesir by the Overseer of the Cattle of Amun, Amenmose, He says:

Hail to you Wesir,

Lord of eternity, king of the gods,

With many names, with awesome visible forms,

With mysterious rites in the temples.

A splendid spirit, first of the everlasting,

With great wealth in his holy precinct;

Receiver of praise in the ancestral home of Andjeti,

First in provisions in Heliopolis:

Who remembers clearly down in the Hall of Two Truths,

A secretive Soul, yet lord of the underworld caverns;

Sacred in White Wall, Ba of Ra,

Whose earthly remains rest in Herakleopolis/Hnes;

Lavish his praise from the pomegranate tree

Which sprang into life to bear his ba;

Lord of the great temple in Khmun,

Terrible in Shashotep,

Lord of forever, first in Abydos,

Yet distant his throne in the Land of the Dead;

Enduring his name in the mouths of the living;

God of primeval time, belonging to all mankind-

He gave earth food, foremost of the Nine Great Gods,

Most potent Spirit among the divinities.

It was for him Nun poured forth its waters,

For him northwind blew upstream;

Sky would make breeze for his nostrils

So that his heart could find peace;

For his sake green things flourished,

And for him the land brought forth its bounty;

Sky and its stars obeyed him,

For him the great gates of heaven were opened;

Receiver of praise from southern skies,

Adored in the northern heaven;

The circumpolar stars were under his guidance,

And the unwearying stars were his dwelling.

And he went forth in peace bearing the sceptre of Geb,

And the Nine Great Gods gave him praise,

Those in the underworld kissed earth,

Those in the desert bowed,

The ancestors rejoiced when they saw him,

Those in the Beyond were in awe of him.

And the Two Lands united offered him adoration

At the advent of his majesty.

Effective leader, foremost of the honored ones,

Whose jurisdiction endures, whose rule is established,

Beneficent power of the Ennead,

Gracious, lovely to behold,

Who put awe of himself among all the nations

So they might proclaim his name

Before all they offered him;

Whose memory is clear, whether of heaven or earth;

Unending the shouting at festival-

Rejoicing for him by the Two Lands as one.

First-ranked of his divine brothers,

Noblest of the Ennead,

Who made order throughout the Two Banks,

Placed a son upon his throne,

Praised by his father Geb,

Beloved of Nut his mother;

With mighty hand, he threw down the rebel,

With powerful arm, he slew his opponent,

Put the fear of himself on his enemy;

Reached the far borders of evil,

With steady heart, he trampled their forces.

He inherited from Geb the kingship of the Two Lands

When Geb saw his mastery.

He gave him his kingdom

To guide the world to a successful future.

And he delivered this land into his hand-

Its waters, its air, its plants and pastures,

All of its walking creatures, all who fly up, all who alight,

Its creepers and crawlers and its wild desert things-

All were presented to the son of Nut;

And the Two Lands were pleased with it.

And he rose splendid upon the throne of his father,

Like Ra when he shines from the horizon;

He put light on the face of darkness

After he had ignited the sun with his double plume;

And he flooded the Two Lands with abundance

Like the sundisk at break of dawn.

His gleaming crown pierced the sky;

Became a brother to stars.

He was a pattern for each god,

Effective at governing;

Praised by the Nine Great Gods,

Whom the Lesser Ennead loved.

His sister Aset served as his protector,

Drove off his enemies, put a stop to the misdeeds;

Removed the Enemy by power of her spell-

Golden-tongued, her speech cannot fail;

Skilled in command,

Beneficent Aset, who rescued her brother.

She searched for him, would not give in to her weariness,

Wandered about this land in mourning,

Would not take rest

Until she had found him.

She made him shade with her feathers,

Made breeze by fanning her wings;

Danced the Dance of Last Mooring for her brother,

Tempered the weakness of Him who was weary of heart;

She received his seed, produced an heir,

Brought up the child in solitude

The place could not be known;

Introduced him, with his arm grown sturdy,

Into the court of Geb.

And the Ennead rejoiced,

"Welcome, Heru, son of Wesir,

Firm-hearted and true of voice,

Son of Aset and heir of Wesir!"

The Tribunal of Truth assembled for him,

The Nine Great Gods and the Lord of All,

The Lords of Truth were gathered there,

Those who turn their backs upon evil;

They sat themselves down at the court of Geb

To offer the legacy to its rightful owner

And the kingship to whom it belonged.

And they determined for Heru, his voice was true;

And his father’s legacy was given to him

<snip two verses about the kingship now of Heru>

Good health to your heart, Wesir, you who were truly good,

The son of Aset has taken the crown!

Adjudged to him is his father’s legacy

Within the court of Geb.

He spoke; Djehuty wrote it down,

And the Divine Tribunal was pleased.

Wesir, your father Geb judged in your favor!

And they did just as he said.
